Comments:

1. College - Graduated from Iowa State University in May 1966 with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Administration and the University of Nebraska in May 1975 with a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
2. Marriage - Married the love of my life, Norine (Maggie) Magnusson, on 28 August 1965 and we finished our last year at Iowa State together as married students. We have lived in 18 states and made 25 moves. Maggie is now a retired grade school teacher and has taught everything from kindergarten to 4th grade over the years. Today I consider myself blessed to have to my wonderful wife, three terrific grown children, their loving spouses, and eight beautiful, healthy grandchildren in my life.
3. Work Experience - My first job after college was in the Marketing Department at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. In March 1967 I entered Air Force Officer Training School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, followed by a year of Pilot Training at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. During my 26 years in the Air Force I flew both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, did two tours in Southeast Asia, and was fortunate enough to serve in such varied capacities (i.e. Rescue Helicopter Unit Commander, Rescue Satellite US Mission Control Center Chief, Security Police Squadron Commander, Professor of Aerospace Studies, & Pentagon Staff Officer) that I never became bored with my job. After retiring from the Air Force as a Colonel, I spent 7 years in the Marketing Department at Cessna Aircraft Corporation flying and selling Cessna Citation corporate business jets.
4. Retirement Years - Maggie and I thoroughly enjoy the natural beauty of our location in the lakes region of Southwestern Maine - water activities with over 50 lakes in the local area, skiing and hiking with over 200 mountains less than an hour to the west (one mountain & ski resort 5 minutes away), the beauty of the rocky coast of Maine with it's many lighthouses & sandy beaches an hour to the east, hundreds of quaint New England towns & villages to explore, and historic Boston just 3 hours to the south. Give us a call if you ever plan to visit the area. My physical activity consists of downhill skiing during the winter months and mountain hiking (I've climbed the hundred highest mountains in New England) the rest of the year. I enjoy volunteering at the local Chamber of Commerce, attending weekly ROMEO Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) meetings at the local diner, and have served as both an Elder and Head Trustee at our church. Maggie and I attend a weekly Small Group Bible Study. We also stay busy attending our grandchildren's school activities - baseball, soccer, basketball, dance, cheer-leading and gymnastics competitions. Our favorite activity is our annual Burhite Family Reunion, which brings together all three of our children, their spouses and all eight of our grandchildren for a week of family fun here in Maine.
